Brief Description:  Push-pull control for the rudder

Today I added the bushings for the rudder stirrup and made the stirrup itself. This is so I can fly the plane easily with one foot or two and is removable. The stirrup is just bolted to the tubes welded in the rudder pedal with AN3 bolts and can be removed if desired. I have a prosthetic left let, so this is just and insurance device in case I can’t use my prosthetic leg. I also have hand brakes for redundancy and parking. Although it has taken me an additional 25 to 30 hours to add these special controls, I want to make sure that I have back up systems for my handicap. I’m not worried about my skills, rather my mechanical leg and in a plane backup is a good thing. I have the pieces ready for welding and jigged in place. I will ask Les to weld this stuff up for me and take it off to the powder coat guys. All these features will be done and totally removable if desired. The good thing is the entire modification with the handbrake will add less then 2 pounds to the weight of the plane. I will make this up with a very light VFR glass panel and other systems which will save weight. I plan on the new Superior IO 360 with the composite sump and perhaps a MT prop to save some more weight.
