Brief Description:  Fuel tank to fuslage attachment bracket

The fuel tank attach bracket is a nice little construction job, but beware, it must be perfect. There is not a lot of room on the back up/longeron attach angle (F-796B) to keep the minimum edge distances. This means all of the measurement must be dead on. Because every RV is hand made and there are some dimensional variances between the longerons so, I made the F-796B L & R about 1/16” longer than the plans call for and then filed it until it slid in exactly between the longeron and the F-713 Auxiliary aileron. After drilling out the 5 rivets where the F-796B goes, I match drilled the F- 796B to those rivet holes. Now it is easy with clecos in every hole to come back and size them per the drawing. BEFORE you match drill, take a fine line marker and mark the angle to make sure you meet the minimum edge distances. It should work out so the line of holes is in the middle of the angle leg. Don’t forget to radius the angle to fit the radius of longerons and it fits flat and flush. After bolting the F-796A to the upper hole and lining up with the rivet line, I match drilled the bottom tank bracket attach hole. This procedure should work for any RV 7 without a hitch.
