Brief Description: Bending the elevator trailing edge
OK, this was a bitch!!!!! Van gives you a way of doing this in the instructions, but!! not enough real information on the actual technique. As you can see, we hinged the 2x8's and tried clamping and even standing on the sandwich, but we couldn't get it so that a flat edge would sit on the skin to the trailing edge radii. The final solution was 4 - 3/8" bolts that we torque evenly until we got the job done. This was done with a small 1/4 x 1/4 spruce strip lying across toe 2 bottom- middle bolts to keep the squeeze from going too far. This worked really well however, the 2 x 8's have to be very dense, heavy and strong to make the whole thing work or they will just flex.
