Brief Description:  Working on left elevator and trim tab

I continued the work on the left elevator and it came out beautiful. The trim tab seems to be a part that many builders have a hard time with. I took my time; follow the plans carefully and just kept at it until it all looked like it would fit perfectly. After that I carefully riveted the subassembly together using 1" x 2" fir strips to align the trailing edge and then drilled the hinge to the trim tab. The left elevator is now done except for fitting the fiberglass tips and mounting to the plane. The good news is the wing and fuselage frame are being delivered to the hanger tomorrow and we are at the point of no return, one RV plane or bust!! I did fly another hour with Pierre Smith in his RV and it went very well. My take offs and landing have improved dramatically and my taxi skill with my prosthetic leg are really good. I will continue to fly the RV every month until my plane is built and make sure I have emergency procedures and landings down to a reflex.
