Brief Description:  Filling in aroung the elevator tips

I mixed up a batch of West epoxy and added in some flox, I can’t say exactly how much, but it was about the same volume as the epoxy. The weight of the flow is almost nothing so do not put too much in or it will get too dry. After getting the consistency of peanut butter, I put it on the inside of the fiber glass elevator tip where it meets the lead weigh and clecoed every thing in place and let it dry overnight. The next day I checked it out and was amazed how strong this bond was, while filling the gap between the lead and the fiberglass tip. I pop riveted the tip per the instructions and mixed up my first batch of Poly Super Fill. This stuff is very expensive, but it rocks. I filled in the seam with entirely too much Super Fill, but I did cover all possibilities. I first taped it off about ½” out from the tip, spread the Super Fill and I let it set over night. The next day I stared sanding, and sanding and then I did some more sanding. Use this stuff sparingly and mix up small batches. It sands nicely, but if you put it on too thick, you are going to spend a lot of time sanding. The results are very good, and this is the fill I will use on the entire plane with out a doubt. It is light, smooth, sands well and oh yeah, did I mention it costs a lot.
