Brief Description:  Rudder tips

I didn't have much time to work on the plane, so I decided to work on the rudder tip and bottom in my workshop over the garage. I still have the entire empennage in my home shop and there are a few loose ends to clean up, including the cosmetic finishing of the tips and mounting the strobe on the bottom of the rudder. These little jobs always take more time than you would ever imagine because fiberglass parts always need some tuning, filling, supporting or something to make them right. In the case of the bottom of the rudder, the fiber glass needed reinforcement for the strobe light and a place to either capture the nuts for the strobe or a place to tap. I ended up filling in the weak area around the light mount with a mixture of flox and epoxy. This worked very well and after it hardened I drilled and tapped two 6/32 screw holes about 1 inch deep through the fiber glass and into the epoxy flox to hold the strobe. I was going to back this up with Nylok nuts but this is not necessary because of the depth and torque required to put the 6/32 SS screws in.
