Brief Description: Completing fabrication of oil door in cowl
I built the oil dipstick door some time ago, but I wasn’t satisfied with it holding its shape when I close the door. The pressure of the door latches was pushing back on the door and giving it more curve then the shape of the cowl. It needed a change to make it more rigid. I ended up adding a rib in the middle of the door and used the fluting pliers to get the curve in the rib that I wanted. Once it was riveted in place the door maintained its curve nicely. It just worked much better then without the rib. I finished riveting on the hinges and latches and used structural epoxy on the hinge mount to the cowl before riveting.
