Brief Description: Phase 1 Test Flying
|
|
Phase 1 Flight testing has commenced and therefore there won’t be many more entries unless there is something interesting to report. I have developed a Phase 1 test plan that is a hybrid of the FAA’s very general AC 90-89A and a rather aerobatic version that was on Vans Air Force that was written by Mike Stewart. I also have to add some tests for my hand brakes and the “push-pull rudder” system that I developed so I could fly the plane with better authority than I could using my prosthetic leg alone.
These are the stages in my Phase 1 fight testing that need to be done:
1) The first 10 hours, building confidence in the reliability of the airplane, engine, systems, etc 2) Airspeeds, climb, decent, stalls and rates 3) Weight and balance envelopes 4) Stability and control 5) Aerobatic envelopes and spin testing to the extent the plane will be flown 6) Putting all together
As I go through the plan I will document anything that looks interesting to other builders, otherwise don’t expect many more entries in the future other than issues or perhaps major milestone, trips, annuals, etc.
