Brief Description:  Whole Lot of Nothin'

I spent about six hours staring at the plane today and the pictures show the only thing I accomplished. I started out by trying to repair my bandsaw that broke last week. I tried to install the new guide I ordered, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the thumbscrew into the gap on the guide when it is in place. I cobbled it together and then discovered that I need to replace the tires on the wheels because the upper tire continously comes off the wheel. I then installed the new mirror on the motorhome that broke on the way home from Sun n Fun this year. Having procrastinated enough, I moved on to the plane. I applied the "Experimental" lettering to the baggage wall and then looked for the installation instructions for the Airflow Performance fuel pump and filter. I last saw them two years ago. I searched high and low and then found them in the Airflow Performance Installation Manual on a bookshelf in the house. I had stopped working on it two years ago because I thought the manifold on the pump had to be vertical and in this installation, the filter is positioned in such a way that the tubing from the pump hits the filter prior to the manifold reaching vertical. I talked to Don Rivera at Sun n Fun and he corrected my misperception. When I found the directions, I also saw that they stated the manifold needs to be installed "as close as possible" to vertical. I tried to install the assembly into the fuselage, but I could not get the screws in. I chased the platenuts with a tap and used Boelube without sucess. I am pretty sure that I had this installed previously so I think fatigue had a lot to do with my lack of success. I called it quits for the day. Hopefully, Joe Tierney can stop by next week and look at my canopy frame.
