After locating the IBBS and brackets on the floor of the RV8 under the right console, I figured out that getting to the location to set the CS4-4 rivets would be difficult due to stuff already in place. I decided to build new brackets taking into account how I needed to set the blind rivets for securing the brackets to the floor.
• Measured and cut new 3/4" angle, four pieces of equal length. • Combined two of the cut pieces to make a single bracket, match drilling the pieces for securing with AN470 rivets. Different from the first attempt, the two angle pieces are mated without over-lapping at the 90 bend, these are simply mated flush. • Located the holes for the IBBS, matched drilled. • Located the holes for the matching nut plates, drilled the #40 holes for attaching the nut places. • Countersunk the rivet holes for the nut plates. • Riveted the nut plates to the bracket. • Test fitted the new brackets to the IBBS.
