Brief Description:  Wiring and Panel Layout Changes

• Identified the wires for the ACS Ignition Switch and determined where each wire connects to the switch.

• For the non-Impulse coupled magneto (RH), there is a jumper that goes to the ground connector, identified the RH side and Ground, connected jumper and wire.
• For the Impulse coupled magneto (LH), the wire is connected to the ACS switch, and separate wire is connected to the airframe ground behind the panel.
• Connected the remaining wires for the master and starter contactors.
• Installed the Van's supplied diodes for the master and starter contactors

• None of the ignition switch wires forward of the firewall are connected at this time. These need to be trimmed to length, and ring connectors crimped.

• I have the Bendix S4LN-20/21 magnetos, which require the hex nut p-lead connector, which I do not have. I can get a pair from A-S for around $36, and just need to reveal the shield wire and crimp.

• The remaining circuits I can complete with tools/connectors on hand. I will need to make one wire for the starter contactor to the starter, because I removed the jumper wire on the starter per Van's recommendation. Some starters have issues disconnecting quickly when the engine fires, this method reports to resolve the issue.

• Spent some dream/design time in the cockpit doing a virtual flight, operating the various controls, etc. Biggest concern is the whisky compass location relative to the 60A main CB. I decided to re-locate the 60A CB to the right of the ACS ignition switch (original plan anyway), and I swapped the location of the D1 and the compass, so the compass is above the D1. This location may benefit from some mu-metal if need for shielding.

• If the GDU 460 display fails, I should have nav capability via the GPSMAP 496 (internal battery) and flight instrument capability the D1 Pocket Panel, also with an internal battery. The plan is to have sufficient capability to get the plane earth bound and reusable.
