Brief Description:  Baggage Door REVISITED Part I

Something interesting (as in not desirable) happened on the way to fitting the canopy... I need to cut the trailing 'tabs' of the top skin of the fuse where the top skin will butt up against the forward rails of the canopy, but before I did any trimming of the top skin, I wanted to make sure the baggage door fit as desired when the hinge is clecoed in place to the top skin, hinge brace and spacer.

Well, it did not. Pic 1 shows the problem. The forward edge of the baggage door fits fine, the aft edge of the bagage door does not. Even though the door was strapped in plan when the iner skin was riveted, the hinge was not totally flush with the top skin, there was a bit of a dip toward the aft edge of the hinge. When I matched drilled the door hinge to the skin, brace and spacer, and then cledoed, it introduced an unexpected issue, as seen Pic 1.

After some consideration, decided to remove the inner skin, drilled out all of the CS4-4 rivets for the inner skin. I have the another inner skin courtesy of Clifford Hill, I compared the two and the forward edge pre-punched holes align, but the aft edge pre-punch holes do not.

Clecoed the 'other' inner skin to the ribs of the door (pic 2), and re-fitted to the fuse, strapping in place shown pic 3.
