Brief Description:  Delays, Delays.

Friday Evening - While I was checking the springs and such that I had ordered, and while I was planning for a Big Airplane Building Weekend - my plans were completely shattered!

I got a phone call from the power company - that's who I work for, so no big deal right? - Wrong! - anytime they call me at home it's not a good thing. I generally do not get called out for routine thunderstorms and general trouble on the power system - we have guys that specialize in that. I'm an engineer, and I am responsible for the underground system downtown, so when they call me it's usually pretty bad. And that was certainly the case this time.

We had a cable failure in the center of downtown Savannah, right directly in front of City Hall, and the manhole caught fire, burning all of the insulation off all of the other cables. Needless to say, by the time I got to the scene, the fire was out - but so was all of downtown Savannah. I worked the next 18 hours getting all but a small number of customers back on - and then my department worked 24 hours a day for the the following week repairing everything.

At the end of all of this I was completely worn out, and my back was killing me from days of standing on the street and climbing in manholes. We continued to work long hours for the next several weeks making sure we took care of every potential problem - because we will do everything we can to keep this from happening again.

So - all of this whining is to explain why I didn't do anything on my airplane for two months.
