I cut the trim tabs free from the elevators, and filed the tubes down flush with the sides of the tabs. The elevator is made with the rear tube continuous right through the trim tab. So you have to cut the tube to free the tab. I filed the tubes to get a smooth, rounded finish on the edge of the tab so the fabric will be smooth. I primed the area with the Stewart Systems Polyurethane Primer/Sealer.
