The trim wheel chain is standard 0.25" roller chain (it's actually plain, with just bushings on the pins - no rollers, but it works the same). The chain goes around the sprocket on the trim wheel and connects to the trim cables with the thimbles.
I drove out the pin to remove the bushing links at the ends, leaving only a pin link. I also had to remove some extra links because the ends were damaged when the chain was cut. I drove the pins back in to give the thimbles a place to ride. I thought I would use a bushing on these pins, but the thimble wouldn't fit through the opening with a bushing on. There isn't much tension here since the cable is 1/16", and it's not primary flight controls, so this should be fine.
