Brief Description: Cleaned and painted tailwheel springs
The tailwheel spring that came with the kit (actually shipped later) had an awful lot of soot on it from the fabrication/forming prcess - or whatever was used to heat it and bend it. It appears to have some sort of plastic or hard coating on it that seems to be intended to reduce wear and maybe protect the spring leaves. However, this coating has cracked and is coming off all over, and appears to have been burned or otherwize damaged in the forming process.
So I spent a couple of hours sanding the spring leaves clean, priming and painting them with black spray paint. I know this will wear off in between the leaves, but I don't want them to completely rust up either. Anyhow they look good now...
