Brief Description: Interior paint prep; NACA scoop
|
|
I spent the evening continuing the prep & cleaning of the fuselage interior. The 48-hour weather forecast is perfect, so I think tomorrow wil be Painting Day!
After masking off the aft fusealge and all the various things I don't want painted light gray, I lightly scuffed everything, made sure all the holes and edges had been deburred, vacuumed every nook and cranny, flipped the fuselage every which way I could (multiple times), vacuumed again, and finally ran a tack cloth over every reachable surface. I think it's as clean and ready as I can get it. Despite the fact that I roughed up the powder-coated fittings at the bottom of the gear towers, I'm a little converned about how the paint will stick to it.
I prosealed and riveted the NACA scoop to the fuselage. The inboard, convex surface of it will get a coat of paint, too.
I also prepped all the equipment I'll be using (HVLP gun, new air line with moisture filter, Hobby Air respirator, drop cloths for the floor, etc.) I'll spend a little time practicing with the new paint gun before I shoot the interior.

Firewall masked off. (This is one task where non-quickbuilders have it easier!)

Nice clean fuselage, ready for prime and paint.

There are still some gaps around that bulkhead. I'll fix that tomorrow.
