We installed the Flap Gap Seal on the Right wing. After much debate we decided to not install the seals as per the Manual. We felt if we raised the Seal up about 3/16" above what the book said we could then;
1. Add and remove flap hinges bolts & nuts without conflict with the Seal. 2. Would not have trim the seal to fit with the Flap as they have you do in the book. 3. We felt it would allow for a smoother flow over the space. Rather than have seal much lower than the top of the trailing edge spar and the leading edge of the Flap.
We were still able to acheive the required separation between the seal and the Flap as per the manual.
