I ordered the RV-14A Empennage/Tail Cone kit from Van's today at Oshkosh 2013. Many thanks to Rian and Mitch for answering my questions.
Van's announced just before Oshkosh that they would start accepting orders for the Empennage/Tail Cone kit at Oshkosh or shortly thereafter. Shipping priority would be given to builders who already had the Wing kit. Mitch estimated that I would get my empennage kit in early December.
I had not heard from Van's after Oshkosh so I called them in early September to make sure they had my order and to get my builder number. They did have it and said my kit would definitely ship sooner than December. They said a notification would be mailed soon with a date they expected to ship it. I received a notice mid-September that they planned to ship my kit in early November!
