Brief Description:  Install Nav lights and tip lenses

Installed Nav lights and wing tip lenses. Began by tryiing to figure out best position for them. Went on a couple builders websites and got the idea of what I wanted to do. Started with the right wing tip. First drilled the large hole for the Nav light using a 1 1/2" hole saw. Positioned the base plate on the wing tip and located the positions of the three screw holes. Drilled the three holes for the screws. Got out some K1000-6 nutplates and postioned and drilled the holes for them. As I was not able to use a rivet squeezer to put in the rivets I decided to use blind rivets. Drilled the holes for the nutplates and blind riveted them in. Cut the hole for the strobe light connector before riveting those in. Once I finished the Nav light mounting I proceeded to the tip lens. First cut the tip lens plastic iin half to separate them for the two wing tips. Placed one half on the wing tip and marked the approximate outline necessary. Used the Dremel tool with a plastic cut-off wheel and trimmed the lens. Repeated trimming using the Dremel, then the scotchbrite wheel and then hand sanding to the proper shape. Once the shape was correct I taped it securely to the wing tip and drilled the two holes for the attachment screws. I then drilled the holes for the nutlplates. I used solid AD426-3-4 rivets and bucked those on very carefully. I countersunk the lens and screwed it on. I repeated the procedure for the left wing tip. I routed a good length of the strobe light wire bundle through the aft fuselage. Called it a day.
