Brief Description:  Fiberglassed Windscreen

Did final preparations for fiberglassing in the the windscreen. Did some minor final sanding prep. Applied mold release to canopy. First cut strips of 2" e-glass about a foot long. Also made a paper template of the lower rear of the windscreen in order to curve the lower aft edge for a nicer look. Cut out two pieces for each side from the template with varying length between each piece. Began applying fibeglass beginning at the lower corners. Mixed black pigment into epoxy resin also. Applied three courses of fiberglass beginning lower and moving up to the windscreen ending at the taped lines.

First BIG lesson in fiberglassing using the 2" rolls. Cut off the selvage edge before applying. Once I got started I just kept using it without it cut off. I know there is going to be a huge amount of sanding, more than it needed to be.

I'm very unhappy with the lower rear edges, particularly where it goes over the side skirts. This will require the fiberglass to "balloon" out over the skirts. This is where I should have tried to pull the canopy narrower at the front. Nothing I can do about it now.
