Brief Description:  NACA ducts and Primer System

Scotchbrited openings in fuselage side skin where NACA ducts will be glued on and cleaned up with MEK prior to gluing. Ducts were a little warped so used the heat gun to soften and straighten out. Mixed up the Proseal cartridge I received this week from Van's and applied a bead of glue to the left side duct and put in place. Used WAY too much Proseal so made a real mess that took some time to clean up. Applied a lighter bead of glue to the left side and put in place, almost a perfect amount so needed much less clean up. I taped everything in place and began working in the engine area. Spent a lot of time trying to figure out the placement and mounting of the Red Cube and decided where I want it, I need some aluminum angle about 2" x2" to mount which I don't have. Played with the exhaust tail pipe locations. Took off the heat muff from the left side because I have been seeing comments on VAF that one side is plenty with Vetterman exhaust. Determined where I wanted to mount the primer system and fabricated an angle to hold it. I removed 4 rivets which hold the gascolator doubler and drilled out to #30 instead of #40 which was in there. Located mounting for screws to attach the primer to the brackett and drilled to size and deburred. Riveted the brackett to the firewall using 470 4-7 rivets. Screwed in the fittings to the primer using fuel lube. Attached primer to brackett using 8-32 screws with a washer and lock washer. Torque sealed the screws. Estimated the length of copper tubing to use between the gascolator and the primer and cut to size. Flared one end after placing fittings on and test fit to primer. Routed tubing to gascolator and removed and flared that side after placing fittings on. Attached the line to the gascolator and primer using fuel lube.
