Brief Description: Measured rudder to V-stab & primed frame
Not as productive a night as hoped. First measured the rudder spar against the v-stabilizer and tried to figure out how many washers would be needed to hold it in there firmly per manual. Took a lot longer than I thought as the washers were not easy to insert. Eventually got a great fit.
Primed and started riveting the spar, but had some difficulty getting the AN470 rivets to squeeze as well as I wanted. Ended up drilling out three of them, but rest seemed acceptable. Not a perfect job, but good enough. Starting using the Cleveland squeezer for first time and I might need more practise. Still a much better tool than the cheap one I was using up to now.
After riveting the hinge brackets to the spar I fear that I reversed them - so they might not fit exactly to the v-stabilizer with the washers I had measured out earlier. So, eventually attaching it to the v-tail might be a little more challenging down the road. I think I'll re-attach it tomorrow night to confirm the washers are correct.
Ran out of time tonight, but should have no problem finishing up rudder tomorrow.
