Brief Description:  Landing Gear Attach Brackets

Well today was not so good in the shop! I started out to make the LH forward attach bracket the same was as I had made the RH one. I also did some layout on the brackets for the long bolt that goes between the brackets, that all went well. Unfortunately when I went to trim the LH forward bracket on the miter saw I forgot that it was powerful tool that should be respected. I lost control of the work and the saw grabbed it forcefully and through it and the RH bracket (which I was using to support the LH bracket in position against the fence) against the wall cutting my palm in the process. Both pieces are ruined and I had to go to urgent care and get five stitches.

COMPLACIANCY! I was having such good LUCK using the saw to make beautiful cuts on this angle that I had backed off on safety. Gloves would have saved the cut and the urgent care visist, not the work. Better clamping would have saved the parts. I was lucky. The cut was deep, but not so deep to hurt my finger mechanics or nerves. The work could have hit me in the face and I was wearing safety glasses, but a face shield on top of that (which I did have, two feet away from where I was working would have been better). Anyway, good lesson to keep up on safety and protective gear!
