Brief Description: Shaped fuselage side foam pieces
I used my track saw to cut a perfectly straight edge on the top (longeron) edge of both foam side blanks that were glued up last week. I also used the track saw and a framing square to cut the two vertical sides (fwd edge and firewall edge) on the LH and RH sides. I then laid out the bottom curve on one the bottom edge of one side. I used small nails to mark the waterlines called out in the plans. I used scrap foam held up against the nails to loft the bottom curvature which I traced with a fine sharpy marker. I cut the curve with my jig saw and finished with my permagrit sanding blocks. I then used this side on top of the other and carefull lined up the top straight edge and forward edges. I attached the tow sides with finish nails and used a pattern bit in a palm router to duplicate the the curved lower shape onto the second side. Now I have two identical fuselage side foam cores. I then laid out the forward control grip circular recess in the LH inside face. I ordered another router bit to work that recess.
