Brief Description:  Rivetting Rudder Skeleton

Not as many rivets as with the VS skeleton but requires a lot more effort for the rudder rivet scenario. The universal head (round) squeeze rivet (AN470’s) are substantially larger (for strength) than the “oops” rivets and requires some serious muscle power when squeezed to get the shop head to the correct dimensions.

Had to drill out one rivet after squeezing it skew. Imperative to keep squeezer perpendicular to the surface being riveted, while pushing against the head keeping it against the surface, and changing grip form positioning to serious squeeze mode still maintaining pressure on the head. Becomes hard work after a few are done!!

The rudder hinge bracket is a strong structure.

On the rudder horn the first two rivets are pull rivets as there is no space for a squeezer. Hardly space for the puller and managed to chip the paint while pulling the rivet. Touch up to be applied.

Took fair amount of time more than expected - those AN470's!!!! Completed the rudder skeleton and ready for inspection nex, before skinningt.
