Brief Description: 1) Dimpled and primed skin then riveted stiffener
Started around 0930 and had the C-Frame set up for dimpling. Dimpled the rudder skin with the C-Frame and had to use the pop rivet dimple die on the holes closest to the trailing edge bend.
I then scuffed the inside of the rudder skin with a scotchbrite pad and wahsed the skin with dishwashing soap. I blew it dry with air and used lacquor thinner for a final cleaning. I decided to use some GPB 988 self etching primer in gray to match the Stewart Systems primer that should arrive tomarrow.
I then back riveted the stiffeners onto the skin. I had one oops when the last rivet went off the edge of the back riveting plate, but no damage done, it just shot the rivet out of the hole. I had to be careful on the longer stiffeners because my steel plate wasn't long enough.
I finished and needed to construct a bending brake for the trailing edge so I was off to Lowe's for some lumber and hinges.
