I decided to make a firerglass cover for the cowling hinge pin. I like the pin I am using, but it didn't have a nice finished appearance, and also did not have a secure way of preventing the pin from vibrating loose and working it's way out and possibly scratching the prop. Not a likely event, but I have heard of it happening and this would be very expensive to repair the prop.
A cover would look nicer and also serve to secure the pin. I began by putting packing tape over the area, and taping some paper towels below the area to catch any epoxy drips. I then epoxied several layers of fiberglass to the area.
