I adjusted the fit of the lower cowl where the forward lip mates with the upper cowling. The lower cowls lip was flared out and left a gap when fitted with the upper cowl. I used a heat gun to heat the fiberglass then used clamps to bend the lip into the proper shape. While I let this area cool I painted a layer of epoxy onto the interior of the lower cowling. This will keep any oils from penetrating the fiberglass. I plan on installing a layer of heat protecting foil on this surface to further protect the cowling.
