Brief Description:  Cut firewall holes for engine control cables

I drilled pilot holes and used a 1 1/4" punch to make the three holes in the firewall for the throttle, mixture and prop control cables. These holes were in the locations specified by Van's, and looked correct by my early trial fittings. The prop control cable fit perfectly, but the mixture and throttle cables come up about 1" to 2 " short. One option is to exchange the cables for custom length ones. Another easier and less expensive option that will work perfectly well is to add short extensions to the cables, available from Spruce. This is what I will do. The threaded portion of the cables each come up a little short in reaching the support brackets, so I will make slight modifications to these as well. All in all, my fitting of the control cables is much better and will require much less modification than many other builders.
