I manufactured the flanges for the instrument panel access panels. I used .040 aluminum and allowed for a 3/4" overlap to rivet to the top skin, and allowed 1/2" of flange to accept screws from the panels. After trimming and finishing the edges, I drilled, deburred and dimpled the flange to the skin.
