Brief Description: Fabrication of strobe mounts on wingtips
I mounted the adapter plates for the strobes on both wingtips. Since the adapters were designed for a tubing type tip, I needed to modify the radius for my specific Hoerner tips. To do this I taped a piece of 80 grit sand paper over the actual curve on the tip itself an sanded the adapter to a perfect shape. I cemented these with JB weld to the tips, drilled the holes out and then mounted backing plates on the inside. These were fabricated using a split piece of 1" AL tubing drilled to match and mounted floating anchor nuts for easy later removal for maintenence or replacement. I then ran the wires through wing near the trailing edge using ty-raps on the compression members. I will finish the left wing next.
