Brief Description: Started on the Trim Tabs While the Elevators Cure
I finished off the year by starting work on the trim tabs. First, I had to scuff the area where the foam ribs will go. I had to measure and mask off the surrounding area, then I sanded it down to make it ruff so the Pro-Seal will bond better. Next I had to use the bending brake to bend the tabs to the final dimension which went really well. Finally I bent the end tabs over on one of the trim tabs. I had to put to wooden wedges into the tab, clamp it down, and the tap it over with a hammer. The wedges moved a little during the process so the bend is about 1/32" farther inboard than I would like, but acceptable. I also cut out the foam ribs for the trim tabs. I made sure to cut exatly to the line and sanded them a little on slight side to account for the Pro-Seal glue so there is no bulge in them.
