Brief Description:  How to almost totally destroy the rudder

Today was not good. I really didn't feel like working on the plane. It was a long week at work. But like the dumb ass that I am, I did anyway. At first everything seemed to be going well. I applied ProSeal to the trailing edge wedge as instructed. I even had a nifty way of applying it. I used a 1 inch wallpaper roller and loaded it with the ProSeal much like a printer would and then rolled it onto the wedge. That worked well. Once you do that however, you only have a few hours to complete several steps. The first mistake was that some of the stiffeners were behind the shear clip instead of in front of it. It was probably structurally sound this way, but trying to be perfect, I elected to drill the blind rivet out and correct the issue. The first one went fine, but while drilling out the second one, the drill slipped and severely enlarged the hole the rivet goes through. This would prevent the rivet from holding as designed, but now I was stuck so I riveted as best I could and continued. I was a little upset about the whole thing so I went to the store for a moment. While there, I realized that I had never counter-sunk the trailing edge wedge. I almost ran over three kids and a nun trying to get home in time to get the wedge out and wipe the ProSeal off before it dried (it lasts forever if it dries) . Luckly, Ellen helped wipe that off. That would have been a major screw up if I wouldn't have caught that in time. Since Van's is closed on the weekend, I knew I couldn't get any more ProSeal before the beginning of the week (turns out they are closed through July 5 for the holiday). I fell asleep thinking of some alternative sealants to use instead of ProSeal.
