Couple of things that I did wrong. One... I decided to bend the 20 mm flange by feeding the aluminum from the table side of the brake. This was not a good idea. I guess I forgot that when bending long pieces the brake needs material to hold on..... all other bends had no movement... hence I should have bent the 20 mm flange from the other side (this way I would have still have had the benefit of all bolts holding down the aluminum). Two..I did not follow my own instructions ! Yes.. I had planned it correclty but changed the orientation of the aluminum in the last moment... and three, I did not leave extra material so as to cut the last flange to length.
Well .. I have a couple of options that I am considering.. one of them is to buy the flap and aileron skins from Zenith...since I am having a real hard time finding T6061 aluminum of 0.025 in San Anotnio or even Austin... having a couple of advantages in my side... better quality thus ensuring good alignment between the trailing edge of the flaps and the ailerons... and availability. only negative is price... oh well... these are the last parts needed to finish the airframe so why not !
