What a fine way to trim the doublers. After many hours of trying to find a better way to cut the excess material from the doublers, I thought of trying out the old tile cutter we had bought a couple years back for a bath remodeling project. I tried it with the original diamond blade but it took too long. Then went to Home Depot and purchased a 4" metal cutoff wheel for less than $3. It works great. You have to take your time with .040" but it's worth it. You will have a nice straight edge.
