Brief Description:  Upper Elevator Horn

Today was definitely a 'do-over' day. I only fabricated two parts. Both seem simple but I think I spoke too soon. The first part which was just a simple 50 X 70 angle. I had to redo for taking the wrong measurements. The second was a bit more challenging, the upper elevator horn. This part requires 0.090 which is so much harder to bend. On my first attempt, I drew the part on the aluminum sheet, cut to the required dimensions and even drilled the 3/16 hole on the tip before bending. This proved to be a very risky move for a novice with 0.090. I made the form block of wood using a 1/4'' router-out router bit to create the required bend radius, I placed the part in between two pieces of wood (one having the 1/4'' radius) and into a vice...then started banging the hell out of it!!! Well as expected...my bend line was not set in the right place...making the length to the 3/16 hole short to the specs. On my second attempt I took a more conservative approach. I first bent the part and then proceeded to cut to the required dimensions.
