Brief Description:  Cowling/Baffle work

Continued to fit lower cowl to aircraft. Drilled and clecoed bottom and side hinges. Cut out oil filler door access and fit oil filler door. Drilled and clecoed hinge for oil filler door then deburred and riveted hinge. Decided to use standard fastener for oil filler door even though they protrude well into the airstream. So drilled and riveted these fasteners and tested fit of oil filler door. OK!
Began trimming rear baffles for fit under the cowling. Used marker pen for rear baffles where could get arm in through the oil filler door. Used the 'paper clip' idea on side baffles where can't reach. This is a two step process. First step is to trim down enough so cowling fits down over baffles. Then step two is to use the paper clips to see where the top sits over the baffles. Mark down the 3/8 to 1/2 inches from top of paper clip to get final trim line. Takes a lot of patience and taking cowling on and off. That's where the second man is really helpful. Cut holes for spark plug cables and mounted rear baffles and installed top spark plug cables. Hooked up oil cooler lines.
