Brief Description:  Prepare Main Spars (Continued)

Next step, was (you guessed it) two more platenuts mounted on the center secton of each main spar web for a total of four more platenuts with the associated countersinking involved (no photos). Next is fabrication of of the tie down assembly for each wing. First two spacers are made from alluminum bar (photo #1 shows the second on just after drilling out the center - the completed first one is on the workbench in the background). These are then match drilled with the tie down bar clamped to the main spar using the holes in the spar as the guides. Took me a while to figure this all out reading the plans and reviewing the drawings. Photo #2 shows drilling out the tie down bar to accept the platenuts. Photo #3 shows the completed tie down assembly which will be bolted to the main spar along with the bellcrank brackets once it is primed. I will probably hold off on priming until I have more parts to prime. At that time I also need to spot prime all the countersinks in the spar where the anodized material has been removed. So tomorrow it looks like I move on to work on the Rear Spar.
