Started the day by preparing all the elevator skeleton components for primer. Then I primed all the left and right elevator skeleton components (except for the left elevator trim spar which I screwed up trying to countersink the skin attaching holes - ordered a new countersink today). After the parts were dried I decided to go ahead and start riveting the right elevator together. Took photos of the whole process in more detail than normal and merged some photos to show the process in total. First pix below shows preparing to rivet the two ribs together. Clecos in place and some rivets in place. Next step is to rivet the reinforcing plates and the platenuts to the elevator spar. Picture two below shows the plates and platenuts cleco'd in place. Picture 3 is a closeup of one with the before (ie. with clecos) and after the rivets are set on both sides. See next entry for the continuing saga of the right elevator construction.
