Manual Reference:  Building the Rudde
Brief Description:  Trimmed and prepped the rudder stiffeners

Although I have the vertical stablizer ready to rivet, I need a warm body to help, so I moved on to starting the prep for the rudder. All the rudder stiffeners (eight on each side) come in six long pieces of metal. They have to be cut and then trimmed to fit inside the tapered rudder. Took about fifteen minutes of reading the directions and staring at the plans to figure out where to cut and how to trim (almost did it backwards - better to measure twice and cut once - right!). Got it done right though and got them all smoothed up. Next step was to cleco on to the rudder. (See next entry for today for pix of that) and then match drill, then remove them and debur, dimple and prime. Got some of them deburred - will pick up with that tomorrow.
