Brief Description:  Install nutplates & how to screw up a skin

I'm trying to do something after work every day when I can, even if it's just an hour or only 10 minutes. Today I installed 5 of the 7 nutplates on the E-01410 trim access reinforcement doubler as called out in the plans. I'm not sure why you hold off installing the last two, but I'm sure I'll find out soon.

The mangled up trailing edge really bothers me the more I look at it. I'm concerned that it might have an effect on the aerodynamics of the elevator.

I used the edge breaking tool from Cleaveland Tools, so I went to their website to see if they had some tips on how to use it properly. Luckily for me they had a video demonstrating the proper use of the tool. It was clear I was setting up the tool wrong and it was really hard to use without munching up the edge with the improper setup.

I set up the tool as instructed in their video and it worked perfectly on the trim tab skins. It was easy to control and the results were perfect.

I've ordered the left elevator skins again. This is the second time I've had to order new skins. It's a bit frustrating, but I suppose it's all part of learning.

Hard to see, but I got great results with the edge breaker on the trim tab skin.
