Well, at 4:30am this morning, I was awoken by a Policeman at our front door. Obviously, at this early wakeup, I was a little bamboozled and what he wanted...
"Your car has been hit by another vehicle, I am here to facilitate the exchange of address details".
WTF!!!
Basically, someone had come around the corner, heard something fall in the back seat, looked around to see what it was and POW! hit my baby...
To put some context on this, I bought this car brand new, to keep. A limited edition Holden Monaro CV8R 2002 Turbine Mica 6 speed Manual. Only 125 examples of this car were ever made in 6 speed Manual, only 350 in total. It was in mint condition.
I am shattered. It is boarderline "write-off" so at present I am really worried because as is normal, the insurance value is not enough to replace the vehicle.

Just got some bad news.... My baby has been written-off. Now the big fight.
My car cannot be purchased for the value as identified in my policy. In fact it is short by $10k, or 1/3 of it's value.
The vehicle is being sold on the open market for between 32-36k (36k for a manual), and they want to give me $27k.
What makes matters worse is that the reference for the vehicle valuation has a waiver on it basically saying don't rely on me.
Also what is interesting is that the valuation certificate (i.e. from the company that the values are taken from: Red Book) has no details associated with recent sales OR details of current values. This information should be provided as the example of the cetificate presents this information.
Looks like this will be a large fight.

My Insurance company basically took me to the cleaners... $27.5k that's it.....
Went against the other guys insurance, $30,800. The wreck was valued at $7,200, and I was advised by a couple of people to put the car on EBay. So I did. The result was better than expected, selling it for $14,200.
