I cut a piece of aluminum to fit the gap between the firewall and the panel frame to serve as an avionics tray. Dan then went ahead and trimmed it and rounded the edges, then marked out, drilled, and clecoed on L angles to reinforce the tray to support the avionics equipment that it will carry.
