L/E surfaces of the elvators have been sanded and cleaned in preparation for 2 BID layup. Also, same type of lay-up is required inside the opened ends of elevators (see picture 3). To prepare ends of elevators for lay up, excess adhesive had to be removed. This was accomplished by carefully grinding using pencil grinder. Control horn mounting holes were pluged with wax.
All surfaces were sanded and cleaned w/ acetone. 2-BID lay-ups were cut to 2" width and placed allong L/Es. Pictures 2 and 3 show elevators after lay up.
Upon cure, excess resin and fiberglass was cut/sanded away and access holes for mounting hardware were opened up as required.
