Brief Description:  Assemble strut compression tube to rear spar

Pic.1 Step 8 directs us to attach WI-102 and WI-101 to the compression tube WI-005 but as Glen notes in his journal entry on this same site, "this was a bitch" and I agree. Another method was suggested to me by Lance and having first tried the method described in the Manual I can tell you Lance's method which I describe here is far easier.

Pic 2. First mark WI-003 so that you know its proper placement. Remove WI-003 and glue washer AN960-416 in its proper position adjacent to WI-101. This will make it easier to retain proper alignment with the washer WI-101 and the Inboard Drag/Antidrag Cable.

Pic. 3 Since The Inboard and Outboard cables have already been attached as shown in Step 8, you will require (expert) assistance to pull the Root Compression Tube WI-003 outboard (this is the one you installed- but did not tighten- in Step 2) into its proper alignment as shown in Pic 2. The technique we used shown in Pic 3 works very well and enables a second person to insert the AN4-31A bolt easily. Use of this method will result in fewer outbursts of frustration.
