Applied 4 plies of fiberglass cloth inside forward cowling to shape the backing for the RV-6A embossed hinge covers. Then dremel cut a separation line to let me separate the two halves again. The aluminum template plugs were still in the cowl so I match drilled the 6/32 machine screw holes for future nutplates. Installed 4 nutplates using soft rivets to prevent harm to the fiberglass during squeezing. Final assembled the top and bottom cowl with the finished hinge covers. I trimmed out some of the fiberglass backing to allow the hinge wires to nestle into the cutout area without putting pressure on the backside of the covers.
What the backing glass looks like after separating top and bottom and add nutplates.
Final assembly copilot side. Need to add a little flox to fill a small space.
