Manual Reference:  ELT Antenna
Brief Description:  Mounted AK-450 ELT-6

Nylon zip tie mount was riveted to roll bar with CS4-4 pop rivet. I used a piece of clear tubing as a standoff and zip tied the antenna tip to hold the antenna away from the roll bar and relatively parallel to it. The coax was provided with the ELT but it was too long. I cut it and added a new BNC connector at the antenna. I know how to make these connections, but the one was challenging. I think it had to do with with diameter of the RG58 vs RG400 that I had previous experience with. I used a scrap piece of this RG58 to practice a few BNC connections. It took two to get the hang of working with this stuff vs my usual RG400. Frankly, this coax is nothing compared to RG400. I gave my handheld to my neighbor and spoke with him on the cell phone when I triggered the ELT alarm. He received the signal loud and clear. Another job done.
