Brief Description:  Left Wing #24 - Flap Brace/Aileron gap fairing

Finished fitting and drilling the aileron mount brackets. Trimmed, fitted, drilled, deburred and dimpled the flap brace, aileron gap fairing, and associated wing skins. Unfortunately, I got carried away dimpling the flap brace. The flap brace is riveted between the flap piano hinge and wing skin. You are supposed to the dimple the wing skin, then counterskink the flap brace (it's made of .032), and then the piano hinge is just riveted on under that. I'll need to figure out how to remedy the problem. It's not advised to dimple or countersink the soft hinge material because it takes quite a load under flight, so I might just have to "squeeze" the dimples out of the flap brace, then countersink them. I think I'll pose the question on the VAF forums and see what they say.

UPDATE: After getting some responses on my question, I've decided to leave the dimpled flap brace alone and dimple the flap hinge.
