Brief Description: Riveted Left Elevator / Trim Tab
Finished riveting the left elevator together.
Built the trim tab. After reading everyones comments on the trim tab, I was pleasantly suprised to find that it wasn't that big of deal. It turned out OK. It's not a piece of perfection, and I definitely learned a few things that would make the next one better, but my first one came out pretty darn good .... at least good enough that I don't feel the need to order a new one from Van's.
The hinge comes has not pre-punched holes, so the whole assembly needs to be well aligned prior to drilling them. It turned out with a perfect gap between the outboard end of the tab and the elevator, and the trailing edge alignment is perfect.
All the bending of tabs done...getting ready to rivet
Hinge riveted onto elev and tab. This took some careful alignment before drilling the hinge holes.
